New Assistant Principals for CLHS and JAWS

Northern Lights Public Schools is pleased to share two Assistant Principal appointments for the division’s high schools for the 2024-2025 school year. 

Jared Nichol, currently a teacher at Cold Lake High School, will become Assistant Principal of Cold Lake High School. Matt White, currently a teacher at J.A. Williams High School (JAWS), will become Assistant Principal of J.A. Williams High School.

“Both Jared and Matt bring diverse skill sets to our administration teams that will help to enhance the services and programming we provide to students,” said Superintendent Rick Cusson. “We look forward to having them share their expertise within their schools as well as with the rest of our administration team throughout the division.”

Nichol has served as Cold Lake High Schools Media Arts and Food Studies teacher since 2007 and is known for finding innovative ways to incorporate technology into instruction and engage students. In 2012, he received a Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. In addition to a Bachelor of Education, Nichol also has a Masters degree in Education Technology and Instructional Design. Nichol also coaches the high school’s rugby team, and assists with the school’s Unified Athletics program.

White joined NLPS in 2018 as a social studies and drama teacher at Ecole Plamondon School, where he reinvigorated the school’s drama program. He transferred to JAWS in September 2023. Prior to that, White was a teacher and jr. high athletics coordinator for Elk Island Public Schools. In addition to a Bachelor of Education, White also has a Master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration. 

"I am truly honored to accept my new position at J.A. Williams High School, and I am incredibly eager to embark on this new chapter. I look forward to contributing to the growth and success of JAWS, and I am excited about the collaborative journey ahead,” said White.
