Dual Credit Programming

What is Dual Credit?

Dual credit allows high school students to earn credits in high school and college at the same time.

To reflect that different models and approaches exist… dual credit also includes preferred placement and workplace certification opportunities.

Who is Eligible?

Depending on the program or course regarding prerequisites Grades 10, 11, or 12 are eligible for dual credit.

Students need to be prepared for the expectations and rigors of a post-secondary course.

For more information, please contact your local high school:

Students who are interested in participating in dual credit programs must be approved by their high school.  Students then complete an application package.

Introducing the Northeast Alberta Collegiate Institute!

The Northeast Alberta Collegiate Institute (NACI) is a collaborative initiative between Conseil scolaire Centre-Est, Lakeland Catholic School Division, Northern Lights Public Schools, Portage College, and St. Paul Education. Supported by Alberta Education, NACI offers specialized programming designed to help high school students explore and pursue careers in health care, education, and the trades. Through a combination of asynchronous online learning, and hands-on training opportunities for the trades pathway, students in Grades 11 and 12 can earn both high school and post-secondary credits—building clear pathways to further education and in-demand careers, all while still in high school. NACI is committed to expanding opportunities for students while strengthening workforce capacity across the region.
