Friendship Centre receives ASBA Friends of Education Award

The Northern Lights Public Schools Board of Trustees is pleased to congratulate the Bonnyville Friendship Centre on receiving a Friends of Education Award from the Alberta School Boards' Association.

The award was presented at the ASBA Zone 2/3 awards banquet on Friday, May 24 in Edmonton.

"We are incredibly fortunate to have the Friendship Centre working alongside us," said Board Chair Karen Packard. "Their unwavering commitment to our youth is truly inspiring, and their impact goes beyond the classroom. We couldn't ask for better partners."

The Board nominated the Friendship Centre for the award due to its outstanding support provided to NLPS school as well as youth throughout the community. This includes the Friends for Lunch program, support for local graduates, cultural awareness presentations and workshops and mental health advocacy. The Friendship Centre also invites all students in the area to participate in the annual Indigenous Peoples' Day celebrations.

The Board has previously recognized the Bonnyville Friendship Centre with a 2022 NLPS Friends of Education Award.
