A dedicated and genuine leader, Royce Cote plays a key role in fostering a positive school culture at Kikino School by supporting others and serving as a role model for younger students.
“His contributions to the school climate and the integration of Indigenous culture are delivered with kindness and care,” explained Principal Laurie Thompson. “He is always willing to lend a hand, whether hauling supplies, clearing snow, helping younger students ski, or assisting wherever needed.”
Royce’s natural approach to leadership embodies the school’s Positive Behaviour Supports framework, seamlessly incorporating the Grandfather Teachings in a truly commendable way. Quiet and unassuming, Royce said he likes to help, and it’s important to him to set an example.
“The people are nice here,” Royce explained. “They ask me to do something, and I do it.”
Royce is the NLPS Student Shining Star for May. During the 2024-2025 school year, NLPS recognizes students and staff making a difference in their schools and communities each month.
