Administration Changes at Lac La Biche Schools

As part of its commitment to building leadership capacity and ensuring a strong succession plan is in place for the division, Northern Lights Public Schools is making several changes to the administration teams at its schools in Lac La Biche for the 2020-2021 school year.

“We believe it’s important to give our administrators the opportunity to learn and develop their skills so they are better able to serve students and perhaps move on to other roles in the division in the future,” explained Superintendent Rick Cusson. “This includes experiencing what it’s like to work with different ages and grade levels of students, and in different school environments.”

For the 2020-2021 school year, the administration appointments for Vera M. Welsh Elementary School, Aurora Middle School and J.A. Williams High School will be as follows:

Vera M. Welsh Elementary School

  • Principal Rob Wicker
  • Assistant Principal John Waine

Aurora Middle School

  • Principal Conal Donovan
  • Assistant Principal Rachelle Best

J.A. Williams High School

  • Principal Samear Abougouche
  • Assistant Principal Alyson Nowicki
  • Assistant Principal Kim Nashim

All of the administrators are current NLPS administrators at schools in Lac La Biche.

“It is the same team of administrators that we have had at our Lac La Biche schools for a few years,” said Cusson. “This is an opportunity for them to take on new roles and develop their leadership skills.”
