Northern Lights Public Schools is proud to celebrate First Nations, Métis and Inuit students who exemplify the traditional Seven Sacred Teachings and demonstrate a strong commitment to their educational and cultural journeys.
This year marks the inaugural presentation of the Seven Teachings Award, created by the Board of Trustees to honour students who demonstrate the values of truth, love, respect, courage, humility, wisdom, and honesty, as well as perseverance, cultural pride, and leadership. Over the next few weeks, trustees will visit schools across the division to present the awards to seven outstanding students from four schools.
“The Seven Teachings Award celebrates the strength, spirit, and cultural pride of our Indigenous students,” said Board Chair Karen Packard. “These students are leaders in their schools and communities who are making a difference by honouring their identities, inspiring others, and embracing the teachings of their cultures. We are incredibly proud of each of them and the paths they are walking.”
