Election 2025 Updates

The nomination period has been extended in one ward, trustees have been acclaimed in three wards, and there will likely be an election in one ward following the close of the nomination period at noon today (Monday, September 22, 2025).

No nominations were received in Ward 4 - Lac La Biche-Plamondon-North. As a result, nominations will open again tomorrow - Tuesday, September 23 between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. If no nominations are received tomorrow, nominations will re-open the following day during the same time. This process will continue daily until a candidate comes forward or six days has passed, whichever comes first.

In Ward 1 - Bonnyville, five candidates submitted nomination forms for the three trustee positions that are available. Those candidates are: Cheryl Edwards, Lorena Hagen, Mark Hunt, Garry Kissel, and Roy Ripkens. The nominations are unofficial until a 24-hour period has passed. During that time, candidates may withdraw their names from contention if they wish to do so. Once that 24-hour period has expired, the nominations will be considered official and arrangements will be made for the election on Monday, October 20 if necessary.

In Ward 2 - Cold Lake, there were three nominations submitted for the three positions that were available. As a result, Karen Packard, Mandi Skogen and Ron Young have been acclaimed to those positions and will serve as trustees for the 2025-2029 term.

In Ward 3 - Lac La Biche, one nomination was received for the one open position. As a result, Lois Phillips was acclaimed and will serve as a trustee for the 2025-2029 term.

In Ward 5 - Lac La Biche South, one nomination was received for the one open position. As a result, James White was acclaimed and will serve as a trustee for the 2025-2029 term.
