Kindness - September 9, 2020

Welcome back to Wellness Wednesday! We took a bit of a break while we focused on the start of classes at our schools. Our plan for 2020-2021 is to share a weekly Wellness Wednesday message and resources for parents, with a specific focus for each month of the school year that will align with what our school teams are focusing on with students.

Our theme for September is “Kindness.” Kindness is an important component of setting up routines and expectations for our students. In addition to creating a safe and caring environment in our schools, focusing on acts of kindness can boost energy levels, ease anxiety, reduce stress, and create increased feelings of optimism and gratitude.

One of the ways many of us show kindness on a daily basis is by greeting other people - with a hug, a high five or a hello. Current social distancing recommendations have changed the ways we interact with each other and that can be frustrating. If you are looking for some ways that you can show kindness without contact, check out our Social Distance Greetings

September is also Suicide Prevention Month, with World Suicide Prevention Day taking place September 10th, and some of our schools may also be sharing information and resources with students in this area as well.

Here are some resources for parents and families focusing on these two areas:
