NLPS Impact Award

The NLPS Board of Trustees is pleased to introduce the NLPS Impact Award to recognize students in Kindergarten to Grade 12 who are making a difference in their schools and communities.

"We want to celebrate our students who are making positive contributions to their school communities," said Board Chair Karen Packard. "Whether it's through participating in school events, acting as a positive role model, or coming up with unique ways to increase school spirit, we know there are many students in NLPS that help make our schools great places to learn."

Any students in Kindergarten to Grade 12 can be nominated for an Impact Award by parents, staff, or other students. Nominations have to include a letter of support from a staff member and a letter of nomination that explains how the student makes an impact in their school by demonstrating one or more of the following:

  • Initiating or participating in activities that actively promote or enhance a positive school culture;
  • Modelling the qualities of good citizenship, volunteerism, philanthropy and/or social equity;
  • Mentoring or providing assistance to their peers or other students;
  • A high degree of empathy, kindness and compassion for others;
  • Using their knowledge, skills and/or personal qualities to effect positive change, raise awareness, and/or amplify the voices of others.

Nominations can be submitted online on the NLPS website. The deadline for nominations is April 15.
