The Northern Lights Public Schools Board of Trustees is looking for feedback on its draft 2020-2021 school calendar.
The draft school calendar reflects the feedback collected during previous calendar consultations, including providing long weekends throughout the year.
The proposed calendar has 190.5 operational days, which includes 180 instructional days (90 in each semester). It includes a four-day weekend at Thanksgiving, a two-week Christmas break and a spring break that coincides with Easter.
The calendar committee also took into consideration a number of other factors that impact the school calendar, such as the provincial diploma exam and achievement test schedules, the requirement to have 950 hours of instructional time a the elementary school level and 1,000 hours in high school, and the caps on instructional and assignable time for teachers.
To share your thoughts about the draft calendar, please send an email to email@example.com before Monday, January 6, 2020. The Board will review the feedback received prior to considering final approval of the calendar. The finalized calendar will be shared with all stakeholders once it is approved by the Board.
Thank you in advance for your feedback.
