      Northern Lights Public Schools is located in the heart of Alberta’s Lakeland region, which offers residents a multitude of outdoor recreation opportunities and stunning displays of the Aurora Borealis.       Northern Lights Public Schools invites applications for the following position: 

      S2223-74 Educational Assistants - Multiple Locations 

      These full-time (1.0 fte) and part-time (0.50 fte) positions commence as soon as possible and for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year. The assignments involve assisting with student educational program needs including social skills, behavior skills, self-help and personal care needs. Training in speech, language and numeracy strategies will be a definite asset. 

      Northern Lights Public Schools is seeking 12 Educational Assistants throughout different schools within our division. Full-time positions available at Art Smith Aviation Academy, Cold Lake Elementary School, Ecole Plamondon School, Duclos School (2), and North Star Elementary School (2). Part-time positions available at Ardmore School, Iron River School, Glendon School, Caslan School, Aurora Middle School, Kikino School, and Wandering River School. 

      Preference will be given to applicants who have: 

      Post-Secondary training and/or experience as an Educational Assistant 

      Knowledge and experience with behavioral strategies 

      Experience working one-on-one and/or in a classroom setting 

      Knowledge of documentation procedures and proficiency with computers 

      Knowledge and experience in alternate communications strategies 

      Experience assisting students with self-help and personal care needs 

      Familiarity with strategies to address different learning styles and experience with Individual Program Plans 

      Training and skills that would be an asset include: 

      Relative experience in educational assistance, nursing and/or rehabilitation 

      SIVA and/or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
